I’m Julie. I have been practising yoga for over 30 years and teaching for over 20!
I first became aware of yoga as a child when my parents attended a weekly evening yoga class. I knew it was important to them and I remember various yoga books on our family bookshelves. After living abroad in my early 20’s, I returned to London and started my yoga ‘journey’.
After several years of yoga sessions with varied teachers, yoga started to become a large part of my life and I completed a 2 year yoga teacher course with the British Wheel of Yoga (the governing body for yoga in the UK) starting in 2002. I also completed a ‘Teaching Yoga to Children’ course at The Special Yoga Centre in London and continue my journey with regular teacher training sessions.
I have experienced most types of yoga over the years, from ‘hot’ yoga, Iyengar, Ashtanga etc. I always seem to come back to a yoga where time is given for the body to accept what is asked. I strongly believe that yoga is for all and sometimes, the intrinsic yoga promise of ‘non-competition’ can be lost. My first ever yoga teacher used to say ‘Yoga is not only the destination; it is the journey’, and I wholly agree.
Before having a family, I worked for a major US investment bank both in Frankfurt and London.
